This course looks in depth at the results of the Structured Testing Programme (STeP), a 12-month primary-care study of the effects of structured self-monitoring of blood glucose in noninsulin-treated patients with Type-2 Diabetes (Ref 1). This landmark study conclusively shows that self-monitoring of blood glucose in Type 2 diabetics, who are not on insulin, leads to significantly better long-term glycaemic control and quality of life, without increasing the frequency of self-testing. Along with the outcomes of the study, this course looks at the practical clinical lessons that you can immediately apply to the treatment of your own patients.
Upon completing this course you will be given a certificate of completion. This can be used for your PDP.
